Best Fertilizer on the Market

Best fertilizer I have ever tried. After just a week, my plants were a deeper green, stood taller, and the melt stopped. I also supplemented them with root tabs. However, this definitely made a difference! I’m very happy.

Works great!

This is a 2 week difference. Definitely worth the price! Ever since I started using this my plants have been thriving and growing like CRAZY! When I first received my order it was leaking and the attachments were all broken but they sent me a replacement.

Healthy plants

My husband bought this and says it works great on the plants in his aquarium. Nutrients seem to be very balanced. The plants are thriving.

Highly recommended fertilizer for planted aquariums

I Have a 55-gallon planted aquarium. Was using Sea Chem fertilizer with limited success. Have been using Thrive since September and the plants never looked better. I dose a bit less than they recommend, 5 pumps 3 times / week. The nitrates are around 10 ppm, the pH slightly below 7.0 and minimal algae problem.I am very satisfied with Thrive fertilizer.

Very effective, but watch the nitrates

Works very well, maybe too well. If you follow the dosing instructions and your tank isn’t already heavily planted, the nitrate levels can climb very quickly. You could probably get away with dosing way less than the instructions say and still have vigorous plant growth. As long as you continually test your nitrates to make sure they aren’t increasing faster than the plants consume, this product is fantastic.

Bottle leaked

The bottle seal was broken and product leaked out as you can see on the box, so unsure how much of it was lost.I would consider this a defect of the bottle manufacturing and not necessarily a shipping issue.

Works well, convenient

With a 60 gallon planted tank with gravel substrate I dose only once a week with this, 8 pumps added to the water change. This has been working well for the last few years. The only other thing I add is water conditioner to get rid of the chloramine.

Best product

Great product my fish tank is already cycled and having to much plants inside a fish tank will cause them to consume to much nitrate, which is a good thing. I had 5ppm of nitrate but after a week later my plants consumed all the nitrate leaving me with 0ppm of nitrate. This led to my plants to Wilt with lack of nitrate and nutrient but using this product my plants look more alive then ever. CAUTION when using this product makes sure to use half the dose. This will increase your nitrate a lot so make sure to test for nitrate each day for a week and if you have plants even better (they will consume the nitrate little by little)

Incredible results

I have a CO2 injected 60 gallon tank. I use five squirts twice per week, and a 20% water change once per week, so not exactly to the fert specs. But look at these results. Each photo is one week apart. Some of the color loss on the reds was just due to initial melt and the plants getting accustomed to their new home. That first photo was the day of planting.

Perfect All-in-one

My floating plants have spread like crazy after switching to this from flourish. Definitely one of the best all around ferts on the market right now.

Did not come with pumps so you have to Manually measure. Can be annoying for larger tanks

Leaks everywhere

I can't use this fertilizer without it leaking a lot from the top. Every time you pump it it wants to leak. Not very cool to have to clean up every time. It also dries there if you dont notice it and gets crusty.

Good for price just use caution with dosing.

Definitely helps grow plants just need to be careful with how much you are dosing so parameters don’t move around too much. Otherwise it works well if you don’t overdose

Safe for Dwarf Shrimp

I have been using this aquarium All-in-One liquid Fertilizer for about a month now and my plants have been loving it. It’s also safe for dwarf shrimp such as Crystal black and reds, as well as cherry's, blue velvets and mixed which I all have in my tank. I am overall very impressed with this product and would recommend it to any person who has live plants and dwarf shrimps in their aquariums.

Thrive is safe, easy and effective for keeping my planted tetra tank healthy and beautiful.

Since I started using thrive all my plants show new healthy growth. I keep checking ammonia, nitrite, nitrate. No spikes, and as the plants use up the nitrate, the levels move to zero and I know it’s time to fertilize. I use Thrive nearly every other. Such easy dozing. With Thrive and root fertilizer tabs, keeping a low light, no CO2 infusion planted tetra aquarium is easy to keep beautiful and healthy.

Thrive took the guesswork out of keeping a healthy live aquarium

This fertilizer has done amazing things for our live freshwater aquarium. We use it 3 times a week and our plants have really flourished. We have an Aquatic fern, grass, moss balls and two other plants I forgot the names of. We have guppies, tetras, a male betta, ghost shrimp and 3 nerite snails in our tank. All of these little guys are unaffected from the fertilizer. Thrive is so easy to use in the pump bottle dispenser. It has the thickness of a watered down aloe gel and dissipates in the water quickly. I definately recommend this product. If my review helped you in any way please press the helpful button.

Hopefully good but pump came bent in half

Seems easy to use but unfortunately my pump came all bent. I will use a small syringe instead but would’ve loved to ease of the pump. I will update in regards of how effective the actual fertilizer is.

Great for plants, killed my fish

Please monitor your nitrates closely when using this. I found my apisto dead this morning and my nitrate was 80.

THRIVE FAQ

Simple questions.
Clear answers.

Everything you need to know to make Thrive part of your regular planted-aquarium routine.

How much Thrive should I dose? +

Dose 1 mL of Thrive for every 5 gallons of aquarium water. Adjust the total dose based on the actual water volume in your aquarium.

How often should I use Thrive? +

A good general range is 1–3 times per week, depending on plant growth, lighting, CO₂ and the overall demand of your aquarium.

Higher-light planted tanks may benefit from more frequent dosing, while lower-light aquariums typically require less.

Do I need to mix Thrive with water first? +

No. Measure the appropriate amount and add Thrive directly to the aquarium. There is no separate mixing step required.

Can I use Thrive in a low-light aquarium? +

Yes. For lower-light planted aquariums, the Thrive label recommends dosing approximately 1–2 times per week. Lower-demand tanks generally need less frequent nutrient additions than high-light systems.

What about high-light planted tanks? +

For higher-light planted aquariums, the label recommends dosing 3 times per week.

Higher-light systems typically have faster plant growth and greater nutrient demand, so more consistent dosing may be appropriate.

Do I need to perform water changes while using Thrive? +

Regular water changes are recommended as part of the dosing routine.

For high-light tanks, the Thrive label suggests approximately 50% weekly water changes. For lower-light tanks, approximately 20–30% weekly is suggested.

What nutrients are included in Thrive? +

Thrive combines major plant nutrients and trace elements in one concentrated formula, including nitrogen, phosphate, potash, magnesium, sulfur, iron, manganese, boron, zinc, molybdenum and copper.

What is the difference between the 500 mL bottle and the refill jugs? +

The Thrive formula is the same. The difference is the container size.

The 500 mL bottle is the everyday dosing bottle and includes the Easy-Dose measuring cap. The 2000 mL and 4000 mL sizes are larger refill jugs for customers who use more Thrive.

If Thrive, Thrive+ and ThriveC are safe for shrimp, why do you have ThriveS? +

It comes down to the focus of the aquarium. If shrimp are the primary focus of the tank, ThriveS is the better choice. If plants are the primary focus, choose Thrive, Thrive+ or ThriveC based on the type of planted aquarium you have.

Shrimp-focused aquariums benefit from stable water conditions. Water changes are still an important part of good aquarium maintenance, but in shrimp-focused tanks they are often smaller and less frequent.

ThriveS is formulated so that regular dosing does not increase the need for water changes beyond what would normally be done with good shrimp-tank maintenance.

Thrive, Thrive+ and ThriveC are also shrimp safe, but they are concentrated around the nutritional demands of the plants. Their regular dosing routines are therefore intended to be paired with the more frequent and larger water changes commonly used in planted aquariums.

Is Thrive the right formula for every planted aquarium? +

Thrive is our general all-in-one choice for most freshwater planted aquariums.

For more specialized setups, the Thrive family also includes Thrive+ for higher-demand systems, ThriveC for lower-tech aquariums, ThriveS for shrimp-focused planted tanks, and ThriveTabs or ThriveCaps for root-zone nutrition.
